The End of the World

In Reformed Baptist Fellowship on October 21, 2011 at 3:05 pm

In case you have forgotten (and almost everyone has) Harold Camping has set October 21, 2011 as the end of the world. Just as surely as the Lord returned on May 21 (Mr. Camping claims HE DID return — it was a spiritual return) now the real end comes in less than 48 hours.

Even Mr. Camping doesn’t seem too excited this time around. Strangely Family Radio did not take the opportunity to sell their stations at a nice hefty profit. They aren’t even saying a whole lot about this real coming although you can find a defense of it on their website. They also have refused to preach the gospel on their stations, since they assert no one can be saved anymore. Now THAT is REAL hyper-calvinism.

One more note: Family Radio has not changed their schedule of programing and has programing scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, even though the world will no longer be in existence. However, they do say, “Schedule below subject to change”. I would think so!

In Christ,
Pastor Steve Marquedant

  1. Another sad day for Camping.

I wouldn’t call it “real hyper-Calvinism” though. Their reason for not sharing the gospel is based on something other than God’s sovereign election. Their’s is more like hyper-dillusionism.

  2. I made up a word in my last post. Whoops!

Rather, instead of calling their view of not preaching the gospel in these last days “real hyper-Calvinism,” I think it would be better termed hyper-eschatonism. Camping and his followers are so enthralled in end times prophecy, twisting it as they please, that it has led them down a wicked path, which involves them not sharing the gospel.

  3. I liked your new word and it is so fitting. I remember about 20 years ago when all Christians talked about was the rapture and the end times. I’ve gotten away from that and I’m so glad I did. Doctrine of Grace is a much better teaching and so rich with God’s truth. Thank’s Pastor Steve for keeping us informed about such things like this so we can see what we escaped from.
